"I love playing with colours and with monochromes..."
While Joël Moalic deals with the administrative aspect, Christine is busy developing new items. As soon as she has a new idea, she notes it down precisely into a small notebook.
"I love playing with colours and with monochromes...", she adds. Most of the collection is drawn by Berthine Marceau. "I suggest an idea for a new theme and, some time later, she comes to show me a few sketches and I choose...". Then, "everything is made here.
The drawings are cut out one by one. For that purpose, we need a special tool for each model". This is Joël Moalic's part. He is also the workshop technician, and he designs the tools and the tiny shapes to cut out the drawings himself. Then the drawings are covered with epoxy resin and heated in an oven. In the final step, the tiny objects are set in jewellery on a small chain, a string, or a ribbon... A new collection is designed every year. The latest one on the theme of fairies has been on the market since January. "Some collections are continued for several years", Christine Moalic adds. "At the moment, we have eight different themes for our customers: The sea world, ladybirds, hearts, sweets, flowers, butterflies..."
200 to 300 shops
Their jewellery is sold in 200 to 300 shops all over France. "We also attend specialized professional trade fairs and trade fairs for the public: Paris, Grenoble, Nîmes..." Joël Moalic concludes, by adding that "30% of their production goes abroad: The United Kingdom, Belgium, Spain, Italy... but also the U.S.A. and Japan."
